A 100 000 Years’ Problem

We have a problem in Europe. Well, we have a number of problems, but only one that needs a solution for 100 000 years. It is spent fuel and nuclear waste from European Nuclear Power Plants.
According to estimates 250 000 tons of highly radioactive waste from nuclear stations all over Europe wait for their final resting place. There is none available, yet.
The European Union has set a date for the first underground storage facilities to be ready to receive highly toxical spent fuel and high level nuclear waste: 2025. How many storage facilities that can accommodate tons and tons of fissile and highly radioactive materials for 100 000 year will be available at that time? Two, one in Finland, one in Sweden.
What if we take the nuclear waste into Finland, bury it into Finnish granite? Not as a charity, but as business? Could the politicians accept it? Could EU push us to do it? What about the people? Or – do we have to ask them?
